Registration for Blue UAS drones

As a pilot that flies the Wingtra drone  under the Blue UAS label and authorization to operate (ATO), you need to complete a few additional requirements.

First, you have to register with the US Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) under this link. This ensures that the DIU can keep track of Blue UAS customers and distribute new or critical information. All information from the DIU is normally also published online here.

Most notably Blue pilots must abide by an air gap requirement, i.e., they must not connect the WingtraPilot ground control station tablet to the internet while being connected to the Wingtra drone.

Before and whenever the ground station telemetry module is plugged into the ground station tablet, the user must ensure that the WiFi connection on the tablet is turned off.

Note that only WingtraOne Gen II 2022 drones with IDs numbered 2630 or greater can be Blue UAS compliant.

WingtraPilot BLU license and telemetry encryption

You'll need to purchase a WingtraPilot BLU license in order to make the WingtraRAY or WingtraOne Gen II Green or Blue UAS compliant. This license enables telemetry encryption. Follow the instructions in this tutorial to turn the telemetry encryption on for your Wingtra drone.

It is the user's responsibility to make sure the encryption is turned on at all times to operate in compliance with the Green or Blue UAS requirements.
