Remove the PPK module

Step by step instructions on how to remove the PPK module from a WingtaOne.

This replacement is recommended to be carried out by all customers themselves. Wingtra's warranty is not affected by this replacement. 

Select your drone version

a. Remove the PPK module on GEN II units

b. Remove the PPK module on GEN I units (868Mhz/900Mhz/2.4Ghz drones)

 

a. Remove the PPK module on GEN II units

On WingtraOne Gen II units the PPK module is integrated into the electronics bay cover (e-plate).

GEN II open top cover
  • Power off the WingtraOne and lay it down on a flat surface, e.g. table, with the nose pointing towards you.
  • Open the top cover.

  • Unscrew the two torx M3x12 screws (see them circled in red in the image).
  • Unplug the USB-C connector.

  • Use the screwdriver or fingers to push slightly and bend the black latch so that you can lift it out of the groove.
  • Lift the PPK cover by slightly bending the right side of the black cover. 
  • Lift the PPK cover and put it on the right.

  • Unplug in the USB-C connector from the connector on the bottom side of the PPK cover

 

b. Remove the PPK module on GEN I units (868Mhz/900Mhz/2.4Ghz drones)

Step 1 Open the top cover

  • Power off the WingtraOne and lay it down on a flat surface, e.g. table.
  • Open the top cover.
  • Open the PPK cover pressing on the PUSH button.

Step 2 Remove the PPK module

  • Unscrew the three Torx screws on the PPK module.
  • Lift up the white module. Pay attention as it is still connected via one cable.

  • Unplug the connector on the plane side and remove the PPK cover.
💡 Store the PPK module at a secure place or the PPK case. Make sure to not lose the three screws.

 

Step 3 Close the top cover

  • Take the top cover and close the WingtraOne payload area
