March 2025 - Blue UAS Cleared List delisting

Blue UAS delisting FAQs

Due to recent strategic shifts by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) towards warfighter platforms, Wingtra has been delisted from the Blue UAS Cleared list, effective immediately. Whilst Wingtra is not a warfighter platform, our technology remains highly relevant also for DOD non-military use cases. Therefore, we are actively working on a solution to reverse this decision in the near future.

As part of our resolution efforts, Wingtra just announced its listing on AUVSI’s Green UAS Cleared List. This initiative is designed to support commercial and non-DoD end users by providing formal assurance that our compliance to being cyber secure and approved for government operations meets the same rigorous standards as Blue UAS.

Rest assured, we will keep you informed of our progress and all relevant updates. Wingtra is prepared to assist you in finding resolutions. Your local reseller remains your primary point of contact, with the full backing of the Wingtra team.

What does Wingtra’s Blue UAS listing status mean for customers?

Being listed on the Blue UAS program signifies that our products meet the rigorous compliance standards (including but not limited to NDAA) as vetted by the Defense Innovation Unit on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). This status enables U.S. government agencies and other organizations to procure and operate Wingtra products with confidence.

Why has Wingtra been delisted from the Blue UAS program after February 2025?

The DIU has recently narrowed its focus toward warfighter platforms, which has resulted in a strategic realignment of resources. This change led to Wingtra’s temporary delisting from the Blue UAS program. However, this development does not reflect negatively on Wingtra's adherence to NDAA compliance or commitment to cyber security standards. Also, the Wingtra products’ compliance to the Blue standards are still upheld, particularly with the Blue licence and the latest v2.12 SW release.

How will Wingtra address the potential impact of a delisting on its existing Blue customers?

Wingtra is proactively working to ensure minimal disruption for all Blue customers. We are confident that the delisting will be temporary and are committed to keeping our customers informed of progress. In the interim, drones operated by DOD entities will be enabled for ongoing operations via a Blanket Exception to Policy (ETP). Outside of the DoD, we will provide on-demand support to assist customers in navigating localised requirements where possible (e.g. documentation for waivers).

Can Wingtra still sell new Blue products?

No, whilst Wingtra products still are compliant to Blue UAS and NDAA standards, we are temporarily unable to sell “Blue licenses”. Important note: NDAA compliance is sufficient in many cases, and the NDAA compliance status of Wingtra’s products is unchanged. If you have special needs, please reach out to your local reseller for assistance.

What happens to my existing BLU license?

If you are a DOD entity, your valid BLU license remains effective under the Blanket Exception to Policy (ETP) which will be issued by the DIU, ensuring uninterrupted  operations for your drone with a valid “BLU licence”.

Non-DoD entities should review the detailed requirements relevant for their customers. During this temporary period, your product is not “BlueSUAS certified,” which means your customers may require an exception to receive services provided by you with this product. We encourage you to contact your local reseller for further guidance, and we remain committed to working on a resolution together.

Will my Wingtra drone remain cyber-secure?

Yes, your drone continues to meet rigorous BlueUAS and NDAA cybersecurity standards and is further supported by our listing on AUVSI’s Green UAS Cleared List. These measures ensure that your operations remain secure even as regulatory changes take place.

What is AUVSI's Green UAS Cleared List, and how would it benefit Wingtra's commercial and non-DoD users?

The Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI’s) Green UAS Cleared List is an initiative designed to provide commercial and non-DoD users with formal assurance that UAV systems meet rigorous standards comparable to the DoD's Blue UAS program. While Green UAS is currently less widely recognized than Blue UAS, Wingtra anticipates its growing relevance and acceptance within the industry. Over time, it is expected to become an equal enabler for General Services Administration (GSA) and Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) issuance, aligning with Blue UAS today.

Will Wingtra offer a Green license?

Yes, Green UAS certification will require a license - equivalent to how BLU licenses worked. For users who have an active “BLU” licence, their “Green” licence has been automatically activated. For users interested in acquiring a Green license, reach out to your Wingtra dealer.

What resources are available for customers during this period?

Your local reseller will remain your primary contact for any questions or needs. Additionally, Wingtra teams are available to provide guidance, supportive compliance documentation, and other resources to aid in resolving any challenges - including obtaining waivers when required.
