Wingtra recommends customers to perform replacements themselves in order to minimize downtime. Wingtra's warranty is not affected by performing the below steps carefully.

Contact your local distributor if you prefer the replacement to be done as a paid service on your behalf.

Step 1 Prepare the WingtraRAY for the replacement

  • Make sure the WingtraRAY is not powered and batteries are removed. Removal of the batteries is necessary to avoid short circuits when the electronics are exposed.
  • Insert the fin and winglets and place the WingtraRAY on the ground or on a table.
  • Locate the drivetrain to be replaced.

Step 2 Remove the damaged drivetrains

  • Loosen the three screws holding the motor mount in place using the Torx T10 screwdriver.

  • Slide out the motor mount from the motor gondola.

  • When removing the cables ensure they don’t slip into the wing. Hold them by hand or use tape to fix them.
  • Remove the thin signal  cable (JST connector, red arrow in image) by pressing the small clip.
  • Lift the retainer clip (red circle in image) and unplug the power cable (XT30 connector).

  • Remove the drivetrain.

  • Take the correct replacement drivetrain. You can identify it by the red or green color of the metal motor mount that should align with  the round sticker on the motor gondola of the drone.

Step 3 Place the new drivetrains

  • Plug the power connector first. Then push down the retainer clip all the way to the plug. You hear a “click” sound once it is fully pushed down.

  • Then plug in the thin signal cable (JST connector) until you hear a “click”.

  • Fully insert the motor mount into the gondola.

  • Take the 3 new screws from the kit and tighten the screws using the Torx T10 screw driver.
  • Only use moderate torque to avoid over-tightening.
  • IMPORTANT: Make sure you use the new screws. The self locking mechanism (Tuflok) applied to the screws has the highest reliability on first insertion.

Step 4 Repeat process for the other drivetrain (if necessary)

  • Repeat steps 1-3 for the other drivetrain.

Step 5 Disposal

  • Then make sure to dispose of the exchanged drivetrains through normal electronics waste.

Step 6 Perform a test flight with the WingtraRAY

  • Before putting the WingtraRAY back into service perform one test flight
  • The preflight checks before takeoff check and confirm the proper installation. Only then the drone will take off.
    • These are the same checks that are performed before every flight.
  • After completion of this step the replacement is complete and the drone is guaranteed to be ready for service.
