What VLOS is?
According to EASA: Visual line of sight operation ‘VLOS’ means a type of UAS operation in which, the remote pilot is able to maintain continuous unaided visual contact with the unmanned aircraft, allowing the remote pilot to control the flight path of the unmanned aircraft in relation to other aircraft, people and obstacles for the purpose of avoiding collisions
What VLOS is not?
VLOS definition by EASA does not mention a specific distance from the drone operator. It is dependent on the drone size and area characteristics

3. Stay alert & ready for maneuvering
In the event that manned aviation is approaching on a threatening path:
a. pause the flight and monitor the situation
