# Missing data after a flight

## This article will help you troubleshoot if your flight data was not saved correctly after a flight.

For MAP61, RGB61, RX1, or a6100 cameras, the images and GNSS data are saved in the WingtraPilotProjects folder on the WingtraOne SD card after the flight. You can find the detailed list of expected data in the geotagging articles ([Non-PPK geotagging](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/non-ppk-geotagging?hsLang=en), [PPK geotagging](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/ppk-geotagging?hsLang=en)).

For multispectral cameras, the images are saved on the camera SD card. The GNSS data is saved in the WingtraPilotProjects folder on the camera SD card.

#### Using Wingtra App

If data organization fails, the flight data may still be recoverable from the drone SD card and/or the camera SD card. In some cases, Wingtra Support may need to assist with the recovery. If the data cannot be recovered, the flight may need to be repeated.

If you see one of the following warnings in Wingtra App, or if you cannot find the flight data, follow the instructions below based on the type of issue and the data that is missing.

If you see one of the following warnings or if you cannot find the flight data, follow the instructions below to retrieve the data, depending on the data you are missing.

If the warning asks you to physically check the hardware, follow the instructions shown in Wingtra App. If the warning indicates that the PPK signal quality is insufficient, check the connection to the PPK antenna and make sure the antenna is tightly screwed in. For detailed instructions, [Install the PPK module](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/install-the-ppk-module?hsLang=en).

![](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-07-2026-03-31-07-8067-PM.png?width=554&height=328&name=image-png-Sep-07-2026-03-31-07-8067-PM.png)![](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-07-2026-03-30-57-2348-PM.png?width=554&height=339&name=image-png-Sep-07-2026-03-30-57-2348-PM.png)

Some data organization failures cannot be recovered directly by the user. If you see the following warning, contact Wingtra Support for assistance.![](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-07-2026-03-32-39-0120-PM.png?width=554&height=322&name=image-png-Sep-07-2026-03-32-39-0120-PM.png)

#### Using WingtraPilot

If you see one of the following warnings or if you cannot find the flight data, follow the instructions below to retrieve the data, depending on the data you are missing.

![WiP\_PostFlightNofication\_UnclearData\_window](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/hubfs/Manual%20(Knowledge%20Base)/images/screenshots_v1.9/WiP_PostFlightNofication_UnclearData_window.jpg)

![WiP\_PostFlightNofication\_ErrorDataThisFlight\_window](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/hubfs/Manual%20(Knowledge%20Base)/images/screenshots_v1.9/WiP_PostFlightNofication_ErrorDataThisFlight_window.jpg)

If you see one of the following error messages, it is very likely that there is a hardware issue with a WingtraOne component. In this case, check the components indicated for every case below:

![Screenshot\_20191128-091427](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot_20191128-091427.jpg?width=670&name=Screenshot_20191128-091427.jpg)

The quality of the PPK signal is not sufficient. Check the connection to the PPK antenna and that the antenna is tightly screwed in, according to the instructions in the article [Install the PPK module](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/install-the-ppk-module?hsLang=en).

![Screenshot\_20191128-092012](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot_20191128-092012.jpg?width=670&name=Screenshot_20191128-092012.jpg)
Triggering of fewer images than expected, usually points to a problem with the camera connection or with the camera mount. Check that all the camera connections are properly established.

The image triggers are not detected by the PPK module if the hotshoe connector is damaged or not properly connected. Please check this connector.

#### Retrieve missing images:

For MAP61, RGB61, RX1R2, and a6100 cameras:

1. Insert the SD card into your computer.
2. Open the DCIM folder in the SD card folder. You can find the missing images in this folder.
3. Copy all the images except the one with the Wingtra icon to the IMAGES folder in the WigtraPilotProject folder.

For MicaSense cameras:

Unfortunately, missing images cannot be retrieved. Possible reasons for missing images are discussed along with possible resolutions in this article: [WingtraOne GEN I Altum/RedEdge: Missing images](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/en/wingtraone-rededge-how-to-fly-wingtraone-rededge-on-low-altitudes-above-home?hsLang=en). If this does not help to resolve the issue, provide the [camera logs](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/en/get-logs-from-micasense-cameras?hsLang=en) and the [flight logs](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/en/access-flight-logs?hsLang=en) to Wingtra support.

#### Retrieve the Non-PPK geotags (.json file):

1. For GEN II drones, insert the WingtraOne SD card into the WingtraOne slot. For GEN I drones, insert the SD card into the camera.
2. Make sure that the universal USB-C payload connector is inserted into the USB-C port.
3. Power on WingtraOne.
4. Open WingtraPilot and connect the telemetry.
5. Wait until connection to WingtraOne is established.
6. Check whether the camera icon on the top right of WingtraPilot turns black. If it stays grey, repeat all the steps from the top until it turns black.
7. After the camera icon turns black, go to the Flight Logs tab in the Settings window and select whether you want to download the last three flights or the last 20 flights, depending on when you encountered the issue.
8. Wait until the flight logs are successfully downloaded.
9. Remove the SD card from the WingtraOne card slot (GEN II) or the camera (GEN I) and insert it into your computer.
10. Open the WingtraFlightLogs folder in the SD card folder.
11. Unzip the **recovered\_data.tar** file—you will need software like 7-zip or WinZip to unpack it. *Note that you might need to unzip it twice*
12. Find the missing .json files in this unzipped folder.
13. Copy the file to the DATA folder of the project in WingtraPilotProjects.
14. Make sure that the name of the .json file corresponds to the project name, and includes WingtraOne after the project name. For example: “*SampleProject Flight 01 WingtraOne.json*”
15. Geotag the images from the Geotagging menu window in WingtraHub following the steps of the [Non PPK Geotagging](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/non-ppk-geotagging?hsLang=en) article.
16. In case the .json is not found in **recovered\_data.tar** file but the .sbf is, please follow the steps of [How to generate a missing .json file in the DATA folder](https://knowledge.wingtra.com/how-to-generate-a-missing-json-file-in-the-data-folder?hsLang=en).
