Best practises when uploading data to WingtraCLOUD

This article shares best practises when uploading to WingtraCLOUD

To ensure successful upload of your Wingtra images and project files to WingraCLOUD verify that:

  • Your computer or tablet has sufficient battery life to last the duration of upload.
  • Any sleep or hibernate settings on the upload device are disabled or set long enough to allow the upload to complete.
  • You have adequate time to remain connected to reliable fast internet to finish the upload. If your internet connection is interrupted during upload, the process may fail.
  • Make sure your internet connection does not have data limits, or that those limits are large enough to accommodate the size of your upload.

Estimate the time needed to upload your files to WingtraCLOUD

  • Open the details pane of your Wingtra flight to view the Cloud Processing size.

In the example above, upload speed is 839.9 Mbps and our upload size is 13 GB

  • You can use an online calculator to find this value such as:
  • Or, you can calculate this yourself:
    • 839.9 Mbps divided by 8 is 105 MBps
      • 8 megabits (Mb) = 1 megabytes (MB)
    • 105 MBps divided by 1000 is 0.105 GBps
      • 1000 MB = 1GB
    • 13 GB (from our processing estimate) divided by 0.105 GBps = 123.8 seconds
    • So, total upload time is approximately 123.8 seconds (just over 2 minutes)
  • This example used high speed internet, often a phone hotspot or hotel WiFi may see upload speeds of 10 Mbps. This would result in the same 13 GB file taking nearly 3 hours to upload.
