Best Practices to Maximize Field Efficiency with WingtraOne

To ensure optimal flight efficiency with WingtraOne, follow these best practices ranked from most to least impactful.

1. Fly at the same Ground Sample Distance (GSD).

  • Always compare drones using the same GSD, not the same altitude.

  • A larger sensor can capture more ground with every picture taken, allowing you to fly higher and cover more at the same GSD, greatly improving efficiency.
  • In the case of a 120 m (400 ft) ceiling:

    • Wingtra's RGB61 sensor covers the area at 1.9 cm/px GSD.
    • For example, the M3E must fly at 71 m to deliver the same GSD.
    • If 2.7 cm/px GSD meets accuracy and resolution requirements, fly with the MAP61 for optimal coverage at 120 m.

2. Use the recommended propeller type for the take-off altitude.

  • High-altitude propellers are optimized for the thin air of high altitudes.
  • Use high-altitude propellers for optimal safety and efficiency for a home location between 1500 m and 2500 m
  • Above 2500 m, high-altitude propellers are required.

3. Charge batteries fully with Ultracharger+.

  • Start flights with fully charged, healthy batteries using the Ultracharger+.

  • Using Ultracharger+ can extend flight time by approximately 10%.

4. Optimize your flight plan.

5. Leverage superior visual line of sight (VLOS).

  • WingtraOne has 4x the VLOS of smaller drones, like the M3E.
  • Leverage this advantage to avoid relocating equipment and interrupting the flight.

6. Enable Direct Return-To-Home (RTH) for flat terrain.

  • Enable Direct RTH for flat terrain to gain up to 2-3 minutes of flight time.

  • For hilly or mountainous terrain, always use the default Safe RTH.

7. Consider environmental conditions and payload weight.

  • Heavier payloads, strong winds, and high temperatures will reduce flight time.
  • This is because the drone consumes more energy while flying and landing in these cases.

Ultimately, it's not about flight time but how efficiently the WingtraOne enables you to complete data acquisition and finish the job.
